Biography:

Sudarshan Kurwadkar joined Cal State Fullerton as an assistant professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. He received his M.S. in civil engineering from Indian Institute of Technology – New Delhi, India. He earned his doctorate in civil engineering (environmental engineering emphasis) from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri – Rolla). Immediately upon graduation, he joined the Missouri Department of Natural Resources as an environmental engineer and worked for four years. In 2009, he joined Tarleton State University (of the Texas A&M University system) as an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering and Computer Science. Some of his major accomplishments include receiving a teaching excellence award from the Texas A&M University system, early career award from the American Society of Engineering Education and recognition from Sigma Xi — "125 Fresh Faces of Sigma Xi." Kurwadkar is a board-certified environmental engineer and a licensed professional engineer. His research interests are in the broadly defined area of physical and chemical processes in environmental engineering. Specific examples are: fate and transport of emerging contaminants, such as pharmaceuticals and neonicotinoid insecticides in the environment; sorption and degradation kinetics of organic contaminants; water quality investigations, particularly water quality impacts due to intensive animal agriculture operations; and environmental regulatory issues pertaining to treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous wastes.
