Biography:
Dr. Desser is emeritus professor of cinema studies and East Asian languages and cultures, University of Illinois and holds a Ph.D. from USC. He is the author and editor of 11 books and the author of more than 60 articles. In addition, he has provided DVD commentary for Criterion and Arrow Films. He is the former editor of Cinema Journal and founding editor of the Journal of Japanese and Korean Cinema. He has taught in Japan and in Hong Kong, as well as at many colleges and universities in the United States, including USC, UCLA, Chapman and Cal State Northridge.
