Biography:

Dr. Raman Menon Unnikrishnan is a professor electrical engineering. He served as the dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at CSUF from 2001-16. Prior to 2001, he was with Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York, where he was professor and head of electrical engineering. His degrees are from the University of Missouri (PhD-EE), South Dakota State University (MSEE) and the University of Kerala (BSEE). He is the author of numerous publications in the areas of automatic control, power electronics and engineering education. His industrial experience includes consulting for such companies as Xerox Corp., Eastman Kodak, Harris Communications and Chloride Electro Network. He also has consulted on educational and accreditation matters and has been an expert witness in legal matters. Dr. Unnikrishnan chairs the Committee for Accreditation Activities of IEEE and a member of the Area Delegation of ABET. Since 2014, he has served on the Fellows Evaluation Committee. He is the recipient of numerous professional awards, such as American Society of Engineering Education ECE Division’s Distinguished Educator Award (2016), Educator of the Year award (Fullerton Chamber of Commerce, 2015), “Eisenhart Award for Excellence in Teaching” (RIT), a professionalism award (Xerox Corp.), the IEEE “Third Millennium Award,” “Missouri Honor Award,” from the University of Missouri, and the “Distinguished Engineer Award” from San Diego State University. Dr. Unnikrishnan has been an ABET Program evaluator since 1996 and a commissioner of the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (2008-13). His international accreditation experience extends to Mexico, Qatar, UAE, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Peru, India and Colombia. In 2008, ABET assigned him as a mentor to India to help the country become a member of the Washington Accord; India was admitted to the WA in 2014.
