Biography:
Dr. Chappell develops programs to support just, equitable and inclusive education in the pre-service and graduate teacher education. She has authored two social justice in education books: "Gender Diversity and LGBTQ Inclusion in Schools" and "The Arts and Emergent Bilingual Youth: Building Culturally Responsive, Critical, Creative Education in School and Community Contexts.” She is a breast cancer survivor and the author of children’s book, "The Little Green Monster: Cancer Magic!" about the challenges of treatment for a family and the everyday joys they experience. She earned her Ph.D. in curriculum studies from Arizona State University. In addition, she is a visual artist who specializes in collage and artist book-making. She is learning Spanish as her second language.
