Biography:
Alvin Rangel is an internationally recognized performer, choreographer, and educator from Puerto Rico with over 30 years of experience. He is a Professor of Dance at California State University, Fullerton, where he teaches contemporary dance, choreography, Horton technique, and yoga. A former member of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC), Rangel has performed works by Donald McKayle, Bill T. Jones, Ronald K. Brown, and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, including McKayle’s Rainbow Round My Shoulder at Lincoln Center, which earned the 2016 Bessie Award. His acclaimed project Tango Vesre (Inverted Tango) has been presented internationally in New York, Buenos Aires, and Taipei. Rangel holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Registered Yoga Teacher, trained in India.
