Biography:
Jessica K. Kamrath joined the faculty in the Department of Human Communication Studies in fall 2019. She teaches courses such as Communication and the Art of Happiness, Communication and Sport, Qualitative Research Methods, and Advanced Communication Theory. Kamrath earned her bachelor's degree in communication and a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and her master's degree and Ph.D. in communication from Arizona State University. Kamrath’s research focuses on organizational communication, resilience, organizational well-being, and transforming conflict, leadership communication, and transformative approaches to leadership pedagogy. She studies sport communication focusing on coaches’ communication and the culture of concussion reporting. Kamrath’s time on the NCAA Mind Matters research team, studying the culture of concussion reporting, and the Leadership Assessment research team, studying the impact of transformational pedagogical approaches, has resulted in numerous publications and conference papers. Currently, she is working on advancing the communicative theory of resilience and empirical studies on resilience and well-being in organizational contexts.
