Kim, Uksun
Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Department
Civil and Environmental Engineering
Biography:
Dr. Kim received his B.S. degree in architectural engineering from Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea). He has two M.S. degrees. The first one is from Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea) in architectural engineering and the second is from Michigan State University (East Lansing, USA) in civil engineering. He earned his Ph.D. with an emphasis in structural engineering from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
His expertise is centered on the design of steel-framed buildings and earthquake engineering. His current research interests include partially-restrained (PR) connections, seismic behavior and design of steel joist girder structures, experimental techniques for full-scale and sub-assemblage structures, seismic rehabilitation of prestressed building systems and prefabricated building systems with concrete-filled tube columns.
