Biography:

Inez M. González, Ed. D., is the director of the Latino Communications Institute (LCI) within the College of Communications at Cal State University, Fullerton. The LCI is a workforce-preparedness program that supports the development of U.S. Latino cultural competency through relevant courses, research and a broad spectrum of educational opportunities. LCI continues to build a pipeline of talented student graduates who are career ready. Many LCI students are first-generation college students who find internship connections and mentorships as well as transformational experiences during their course of study. González gained her media expertise at the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC), eventually serving as the executive vice president of this leading Latino media advocacy organization. Accomplishments at NHMC include: creating a media policy program, securing national foundation support, and spearheading groundbreaking studies on hate speech and related public campaigns. González has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of San Diego; a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix; a master of public administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government; and a doctorate in educational leadership from Cal State Fullerton. A binational citizen, Inez was born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico.
