Biography:
Portia Jackson Preston, DrPH, MPH is an associate professor of Public Health at Cal State Fullerton and author of "Hustle, Flow, or Let it Go? A Guide to Shame-Free Wellness that Honors Your Reality and Gives you Life" (Revell Books, 2025).
Her inclusive approach to wellness is informed by her research on secondary traumatic stress and burnout, and drivers of stress and health inequity in marginalized populations.
Her work helps individuals engage in mindset shifts to sustain impact in their personal and professional lives, and organizations to enact systemic changes that foster psychological safety and promote sustainable wellness and performance.
A two-time TEDx speaker, Dr. Preston communicates effectively with lay and professional audiences, drawing upon her personal journey navigating AuDHD, chronic health conditions, and burnout, and a robust professional background spanning academia, non-profit, government, management consulting, and the Fortune 50.
She holds a doctorate of public health from UCLA, a master of public health from the University of Michigan, and a BA in cultural and social anthropology from Stanford University.
